As promised, here is a bit more about our “natural horror creatures” that give Jeff and I the willies, as discussed in Episode 2.
Jeff’s natural horror creature really is horrific. Not only do they appear in large numbers and emerge from you floorboards or bathroom sinks at night, but they also appear to be equipped with giant pinchers located on their posterior. To make them even more creepy, these little insects have a “threat pose” where they lift the pinchers in the air, wide open, daring you to put your finger close to them. There are even rumors and a common myth that suggests that Earwigs will crawl into people’s ears at night and lay their eggs. While not at all true, Earwigs have been found in people’s ears. YIKES! I don’t even want to know what they are doing in there…

The Thousand Legger
Cyrus’s natural horror creature is creepy for two reasons. First, LOOK AT THIS THING! It has so many legs, it seems to bristle with fine hairs that are constantly moving. And they can get big. REAL BIG! Like inches big! But what makes them really skin-crawling is that they appear to be “smart”. They’ll run away from you if you move towards them, stay perfectly still if they don’t think you see them, and even run towards you if you turn on the light! And holy crud are they fast. They’ll run right at you from across the room and be up to your toe in a few seconds. That’s just enough time to give the entire situation some thought and freak out. These guys even have mandibles that they are more than willing to use on you. If you roll on top of them at night (yes, they’ll be more than happy to visit you while you sleep), they’ll bite you without a second thought.

Got Your Own?
The Earwig and the Thousand Legger are our picks, but we’re sure you’ve got your own. And they don’t need to be insects, either. No, sir! Snakes, scorpions spiders, and horse flies (GADS, those things are persistent devils) are all great picks, too. Just keep in mind that our top #1 is not meant to be the end all, be all. Give us your top #1 and we’ll see how they measure up.
Heck, let’s put them in a Thunderdome like environment and see which one lasts!
The smart money is on the Thousand Legger…
